Where it all began

A small act of care became a community hub.

Janet's Junction started in 2020 as a community response to hunger and hardship, and has grown into steady support for families in need.

Our origin

Born from neighbours helping neighbours

Janet's Junction began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many families were facing hunger, uncertainty and isolation. What started as neighbours sharing meals and small acts of care grew into a consistent support system for vulnerable children, families, the elderly and people experiencing homelessness in Phoenix, Joe Slovo Park and the wider Milnerton area.

The name

Why it is called Janet's Junction

Janet's Junction is named in honour of Janet, whose kindness, generosity and quiet strength shaped the spirit of the organisation. During the early days of COVID, Janet was a source of comfort and connection, creating a space where people felt welcomed, supported and not alone. The word Junction reflects what she embodied: a meeting point and crossroads of help and hope.

The name reminds us that every act of kindness matters, and that community begins when people come together with compassion and care.

"Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others by the stories they share about you."
